When Your Train of Thought Leaves the Station…

Welcome Aboard!

Introduction

Welcome to my model railroad and Swedish cooking website. After flunking retirement twice (at least) I am spending more time focusing on family, trains, teaching, and research.

I can be reached via email at steve_erickson@speritrains.net

This site covers some of that. You will find:

  1. Links to the National Model Railroad Association, the Northeastern Region, and the Little Rhody Division of the NMRA.
  2. Pages with links to useful sites, videos, distributors, and manufacturers.
  3. Blog posts with updates on progress on the various layouts I have under construction (yes, more than one).
  4. Links to my work teaching forensic psychiatry law at Roger Williams School of Law and Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown.
  5. Links to other locations where I write (whatever twitter is, substack, LinkedIn, etc. Most of that is mental health advocacy and research
  6. the WORK BENCH has articles on projects I have done, such as step by step instructions on building a laser kit.
  7. KITS WE DONT NEED NO STINKING KITS has links to all the places to get materials for scratch builidng.
  8. CLINICS provides links to a variety of sites that provide instruction on aspects of model railroading.

The Old Colony Division is under construction!!

The unfinished basement in the condo I moved into a few years ago is now undergoing some changes. Medical issues, the pandemic, and other activities put the construction on hold, but the contractors are on their way. Photos to be posted soon!

Hi Steve, hoping to hear from you regarding a worthy donation for my Bachmann trains out of Seekonk. If you don’t have any use for them at this time let me know I have some folks who are interested and as much as I would love a charitable organization I don’t want to string anyone along. Thanks Joe

Steve I did no u know you were a model train enthusiast!! I have collected HO trains, engines, and buildings (not built yet), for years. I need to make time now to pursue this hobby.

Sounds great! Still working on getting to Maine — hopefully sooner rather than later. Also, do you have any pictures of the inn? Inside? Outside? Especailly back side? I have some great postcards.
