Bonnie and I get back from Syracuse last night after attending the Northeastern regional model railroad convention. We had a great weekend.
One of the highlights for me will worthy to four hour Marathon clinics put on by Bill Brown and his friends. We learned a lot of new techniques, including carving plaster stone walls and soldering brass wired together to make a fence or a railing. We also learned some of Bill’s scenery techniques, which go quite quickly and produce tremendous results.
On Saturday I went on a tour of the local railroad, the finger lakes railway, which services various industries in the Geneva New York area. There were several structures that I took quite a few pictures of, and we saw how modern rail repair facilities operate.
I submitted Ockham’s razor in the contests at the convention, and did well. Each of the individual buildings received a merit award, which puts the one third of the way toward finishing the structures I need for the structure certificate under the master model railroader program.
