The Elm Lawn Inn
This is a project that I am scratchbuilding. Back in the 50′s and early 60′s my family owned and operated the Elm Lawn Inn on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire in the summer. It burned down a few years after we sold it, which was a terrible loss — it had historic significance as a major inn on the first roads between Boston and Quebec.
I have decided to recreate the inn and the nearby barn in HO scale based on historical research, family memories and old photographs. I will post the research and the development of the diorama as it is constructed. I expect this to be a long term project.
I hope this reaches you! I worked as a waitress at the Elm Lawn Inn in the summers of 1954 and 1955. Please contact me (rzeisloft@verizon.net)
Amazing. Just restarting this site. Great to hear from you. I assume you knew my parents, and perhaps my brother and I. He was 7 in 1954 and I was 3.
Stephen,
I was a waitress at the Elm Lawn Inn during the summers of 1954 and 1955. I have fond memories of your dad, grand parents, and uncles. Please let me know if you receive this post. (rzeisloft@verizon.net)
My Grandparents bought the inn from your family. My parents still live on the property. I would be very interested in seeing your finished project.

Awesome! The building project was held up a few years, currently working on that and a replica of the old railroad station down by the river. I have accumulated a lot of information and would be happy to share. I have drafted plans based on the postcards and photos I have found. I am researching when additions were made, when the stables were torn down, when the chimney and front portico were added. All interesting stuff. Let me know if you want to connect to share information
